Greetings Flooring Dealers!

In my last installment about thank you cards, I discussed the strategy of having your sales people send a hand written card to every client after the job is complete.

Another strategy is the “Personal Acknowledgement Note.”  Here’s how it works:

  • Print up a list of all your past clients.  Divide the list by salesperson; in other words, to the largest degree possible have each salesperson write to clients they personally worked with.  If this is not possible, don’t worry about it. The strategy still works.
  • Have each salesperson hand-write 10 cards per week, or 2 per day.  As they write each card, they cross the client off the list.  Once the list is complete, print out another one and start over.
  • The message should NOT try to sell anything.  If the salesperson knows the client well, the note could include something personal that will connect with the client.  “Hope your golf game is doing well.”  “I hope your daughter’s graduation turned out nicely.”  Etc.
  • Sample generic message:  “Hi, this is Sue Smith, flooring consultant with Jimbo’s Floors.  I just wanted to write and thank you for your past business.  If there is ever anything I can help you with in regards to your floors, please don’t hesitate to call.  Of course the same applies to any friends or loved ones you refer to me.  Thanks again!  Sincerely, Sue.”

Let’s say you have 4 sales people.  That’s 40 Personal Acknowledgement Notes going out each week, or 160 per month.  Over the course of a year 1,920 past clients will receive a hand-written note from your store.
