Greetings Floor Dealers!

In the last post I gave some stats about email marketing.  Here they are again for your review:

  • Only 13% of emails are opened
  • Those with 35 or fewer characters in the subject line were opened 19% of the time
  • Click through rates (This is when you have a link in your email and people click it.): long subject lines had a 2.8% click through, under 35 characters had 3.5% click through.
  • 30% of emails are read within 2 hours
  • 70% lay around for days

These could seem discouraging, but it’s important to remember that most email marketing is done incorrectly, and these stats reflect that.  It’s possible to have much better numbers, and to make a lot of money with email marketing.

This week we’ll discuss the importance of having the right list.

SPAM laws make it illegal to send unsolicited emails, but even if you could do it the results wouldn’t be good.

This means sending email to people who have given you permission; past clients who have given you their email address, and prospects who have opted in for some kind of offer.

A great way to get permission to market to prospects via email is to include an opt-in form like this one on your website:

You give a “brochure” site a powerful direct response engine by putting this in the upper right or left hand corner of the page.  (You want it at the top or at least above the fold so prospects see it immediately.)

When they opt-in, the prospect gets an instant download of the free report, then gets put on an auto-responder which drips emails to them over the next 30 days with special offers.

If they don’t buy during that 30 days, they go into your long-term lead nurture where they get dripped on each week with fun, informative, entertaining, valuable information, along with occasional special offers.
